ASA Official Commemorative Destination Guides (CDG)

Have you ever wondered how in the world millions of families travel to foreign towns, cities, states and even countries just to see their sons and daughters play sports over a weekend?  Some buy books and maps, and ask around because they simply are not aware that ASA exists…yet.  But many book through ASA so they know that they’ll receive their very own customized Commemorative Destination Guide that they’ll rely heavily on to find their way, make decisions about where they’ll eat, sleep, fix their car, buy their last-minute prescriptions and gas, entertain themselves, and shop and relax while on the road.

That’s the secret to ASA’s success when it comes to our amazing Commemorative Destination Guides – our members refer to them day in and day out for valuable information and promotions tied to their tournament travel experience.  ASA has developed several new content-driven enhancements that will further increase the value of the Guides to our members while allowing a select number of ASA sponsors and partners the rare opportunity to share their brand message with the ASA audience.

How the Guides Work

Imagine you own a fast food restaurant franchise that needs to drive traffic to more than 30 locations in a region.  How do you do that without blowing your entire ad budget on traditional media?  There is an alternative… hand select sporting events in the areas and regions surrounding your 30 stores.  You create a special, ASA-only promotion that is included in thousands of Commemorative Destination Guides going into the hands of your target audience as they prepare to travel to your market.  ASA also puts the Guides into the hands of athletes and their families that may live in your market, further cultivating your primary target audience.

ASA reinforces the offer and the message through its website (where the offer can also be downloadable to PDAs). ASA sends electronic communications to members days before the travel dates reminding them to take advantage of your extra special offer.  Your locations are all listed and brand identified in the Guide maps.  The parents are exposed to your message, the athletes are exposed.  In fact, the entire family, all coaching staff and tournament administration knows about your special offer and every one of your 30 stores.  Lastly, every offer made to each store’s surrounding market can be bar coded to track the response to each store—meaning, you can test different offers in different markets, regions, or even on variant demographics!  It’s that easy and yet that effective.

CDG Opportunities

Because the CDGs are produced on a constant and ongoing basis, your company or brand can begin advertising just as soon as your program is defined and all the art and images are in place.  The advertising rates are dependent upon the size of your market in terms of amateur sports activity, the size of the tournament(s) that the CDGs are being produced for, and the number of athletes/families that the CDG will reach.
